I returned from New York on a very chilly Wednesday night, went straight back to work the next day, and I'm only now recovering from the jet lag. Some nice, bracing thermoses of Wuyi oolong tea really sped up the recovery.
It was so strange and wonderful to return to my home - much like encountering a former lover who is now a thousand times lovelier, more complex, and more fully present than you ever remembered her, and who is warmly willing to take you back even while you feel small and shabby in her presence. The impression of vibrancy and wonder did not change in the slightest as the week wore on, and I found my whole relationship with the city of my birth changed for the better. Even after my reluctant departure for Colorado, I feel that my whole life has been enriched by coming back into touch with something I never truly realized I love so deeply.
I will be back soon. I will return shining with the light that this mad, disorganized, elegant, perpetually busy, endlessly alive place has ignited in me.

Water Carnival
Hi, everyone!
I have a trip home to Manhattan scheduled for next week. I haven't been back in a while, so I feel a bit nervous, but it feels good to be preparing to relocate again. My phone's screen protector shattered two days ago... I took it to the Apple Store, and they said repairs would cost $145, and void any warranty. I took it to another repair shop - they said $90. Since I had planned on it for the future anyway, I'm wondering if I shouldn't just buy a whole new phone on the trip. I've been longing to have a New York number again for some time.
At any rate, the camera lens on the back still works fine, and I was very glad of that w
Hello, all
I know that I've been quite terribly silent lately, but the fact is that I've been called upon to really examine my life, and what direction I want to take it in. Hope is such a fragile thing, but I think I'm beginning to understand how important it is to nurture it - and where it has the potential to take me. :)
I read all your kind words, and I think fondly of all my readers. I just hope more of you feel free to read more than just 'Star-Sent'; while I love it just as much as you do, I've written plenty of other things, and I intend for there to be many more in the future!
I will try to put updates here more often. You're all in my though
The Storm Has Passed
I checked the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, and the latest official news is that the tsunami watch has been cancelled for what seems to be all the countries it was expected to hit. I am relieved. Japan has also been issued a Fixed Regional Warning Cancellation. Learn about it all here: http://ptwc.weather.gov/
Let's hope that the weather patterns have stabilized again.
Earthquake in Japan
I received the news very late last night... Japan has been hit by an 8.9 magnitude earthquake, and the shockwave has triggered a tsunami warning for many other Pacific countries.
